It has been said that all good businesses create a customer. Creating a marketing plan will help you clarify who is your customer, what they will buy, why they are buying, where they will buy, and how you will let them know your product or service exists.

We will be talking strategy and tactics that will help creatives, social entrepreneurs, new businesses, and activists succeed in creating a customer and delivering the product or service that a customer wants.

Over the course of three, three-hour classes, we will discuss how to research your customer, the market, and your competition. We will unpack the notions of positioning and branding. We will discuss how to set a price for your product or service. We will discuss some tactics for testing the market and how to make reasonable assumptions when you little clear knowledge to work with. We will discuss some approaches for using social media, word-of-mouth marketing, and strategies for marketing when you have more time than money.

Students will begin a marketing plan during the class. Students should be prepared to do some research and planning between classes.
