Double Happiness Coworking Picture

Situation: The director of a non-profit, event rental space in Manhattan had unused space during weekdays and a vision to create a permanent co-working/business incubator. They were attracting new renters though word-of-mouth campaign and also building their volunteer-base for managing community events.

Critical Issue: The organization needed capacity to prototype co-working concept for internal selling to partners.

Reasons: The understaffed organization was overworked with current projects and caught up in short-term tasks. Didn’t have the experience internally to facilitate co-working sessions or understanding of the marketplace.

Vision: Partner to create a month long series of co-working events. Identify unique position in Manhattan co-working market.

Results: We created 5 co-working events, emphasizing collaboration and the space’s convenient location in Manhattan. We brought in potential renters to the space, created buzz around the idea of co-working, and attracted new volunteers.

We conducted an initial round of market research on the participants and summarized all findings in a one-page document that the director could use for internal selling.
